Nominate Your Lab Manager: 2024 Leadership Excellence Awards Now Open
Call for submissions—Enter yourself or a colleague to be recognized in the third annual Leadership Excellence Awards
Submissions for the 2024 Leadership Excellence Awards are now open! This awards program, now in its third year, draws hundreds of nominations from across the globe and recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and management skills within their scientific organizations.
“The Lab Manager Leadership Excellence Awards are an important way to recognize the hard work and success of lab managers in front of their peers,” explains Scott Hanton, PhD, editorial director at Lab Manager. “Being recognized provides a clear example of how to succeed in this challenging role and opens conversations with other lab managers about how to solve common problems and continue to make improvements to the lab.”
Laboratory professionals are highly encouraged to nominate themselves or a colleague for any of the four award categories:
- Overall Lab Manager Excellence Award
- Excellence in Lab Leadership
- Excellence in Lab Management
- Young Lab Manager Excellence Award (under 40)
How to win
Deadline to submit your nomination is Friday, December 8, 2023. Update: The nomination deadline has been extended to Friday, December 15, 2023. A panel of judges will evaluate all entries and determine winners for each category. Nominators should provide the judges with an impactful story and quantifiable evidence to demonstrate that the nominee is worthy of a Leadership Excellence Award and to ensure their submission stands out.
“The significant accomplishments of lab managers make the evaluation process challenging for the program’s judges. The keys to a successful submission are to be specific about the nominee’s accomplishments by providing details of the benefits and impact, and to include examples of improvements across the nominee’s key responsibilities, including people leadership, operational excellence, lab safety, and lab quality,” adds Hanton.
Winners of the 2024 Leadership Excellence Awards will be recognized at the 2024 Leadership Summit, taking place April 29-May 1 in Denver, CO. They will also be featured in published coverage in Lab Manager.
