LYNDHURST, NJ — NAVAC Vacuum, the world’s largest rotary vane pump manufacturer with a three-decade history of vacuum technology advancements, introduced a series of dual-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps equipped with a high-efficiency Brushless DC (BLDC) motor at the Pittcon Conference & Exposition, February 24-28 in San Diego. The company showcased its EcoDrive Vacuum Pump series, so named for an energy-conserving “Eco Mode” that enhances sustainability while also tamping down operating noise.

Durable and reliable, NAVAC Vacuum’s EcoDrive series provides highly reliable performance for applications where eco-friendliness is emphasized. The pump’s highlights include an adjustable gas ballast valve, a forced oil circulation system, and an anti-suckback design. The series’ signature model, the ED16, delivers a 16 m3/h flowrate and an ultimate vacuum down to 4x10-3 mbar.

A key feature for the EcoDrive series is the application of BLDC motor and control. In addition to its higher efficiency vs. conventional AC motors, BLDC is an inverter-driven DC motor, which can run at variable speeds, and its Eco Mode significantly reduces speed thus conserving energy while maintaining vacuum level. Taking ED16 as an example, when the Eco Mode is activated, the motor speed will be reduced by a third, therefore reducing power consumption. As a result of this new technology, operators can also expect a significant reduction in noise level.

Also, at Pittcon, NAVAC Vacuum displayed ShieldDrive, a dual-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pump with a BLDC motor optimized for efficiency and leak-free operation. The pump employs static sealing through mechanical shield and magnetic coupling designs, offering comprehensive protection against corrosion. This makes ShieldDrive ideal for laboratory settings where corrosive and other harmful byproducts are present in harsh applications.
